FOCUS ON INSURANCE COVERAGE AND BAD FAITH CLAIMS, ADMIRALTY AND MARITIME LAW, AND CONSTRUCTION LITIGATION

Born in New Orleans, Louisiana, Dean graduated from the University of New Orleans with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1973. He received his Juris Doctorate from LSU Hebert Law Center in 1975. During years of active trial and appellate civil practice before Louisiana and federal courts, Dean has developed a comprehensive knowledge of admiralty and maritime law, Louisiana and federal workers’ compensation law, Louisiana tort and insurance law. Since 1994, he has focused on insurance coverage disputes, bad faith claims, admiralty and maritime law, and construction and civil litigation. Dean has been "AV" rated with Martindale-Hubbell since 1988. He is presently a member of the Adjunct Faculty of Loyola University School of Law teaching Insurance Law (Law 854) and LSU Hebert Law Center, where he teaches Maritime Personal Injury and Admiralty Law. Dean has also taught hundreds of students in Trial Advocacy Programs for the National Institute for Trial Advocacy, LSU Hebert Law Center, and Loyola Law School. He has received awards from National Institute for Trail Advocacy and LSU for his trial advocacy teaching. In 1985, Dean co-founded the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel Trial Academy and has since been a member of the Faculty and Board of Directors. In 2003, Dean joined Jeansonne & Remondet as Of Counsel to its New Orleans Office. He is a member of the American and Louisiana Bar Associations, as well as the Bar Association of the Fifth Circuit and the Maritime Law Association of the United States. Dean has served on the LSU Law School Board of Trustees, and was the Chair of the LSU Law Center Chancellors Counsel from 2007-2009. He is a Master, Co-Founder and Executive Committee Member of the Judge John C. Boutall American Inn of Court. Dean was selected to Louisiana Super Lawyers 2009. He is married to the former Rosalind Brewer and they have three children.
