SCOTT F. HIGGINS

Scott was born in New Orleans, Louisiana and was raised in Slidell, Louisiana. He graduated from Pope John Paul II High School in 1993 and, thereafter, graduated cum laude from the University of Mississippi with a Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Managerial Finance and Banking in 1997. In 2000, Scott received his Juris Doctorate from the Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge. While attending LSU Law School, he was elected to the Moot Court Board and was a semifinalist in the Tullis Moot Court Competition. Scott is licensed to practice law before all Louisiana District Courts, the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals, and all United States District Courts in Louisiana. He is also licensed to practice law in Texas. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association, the Texas Bar Association, the Lafayette Parish Bar Association and the Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel. Scott’s practice is focused on tort and business litigation, and he routinely handles matters concerning insurance defense, automotive liability, products and premises liability, commercial disputes, toxic torts, construction defects, workers compensation and subrogation. He has also handled numerous appeals and has argued before the Louisiana Supreme Court. Scott has achieved the distinguished rating of “AV Preeminent” with Martindale-Hubbell. He is married to the former Alisha M. Cortez and the couple has two sons.
