Sylvia Snyder Lowe is a Louisiana native who has lived in Lafayette since 1985. Sylvia attended Centenary College in Shreveport, Louisiana and received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education in 1971 and, in 1977, received a Master’s Degree from Louisiana State University. Sylvia earned a Juris Doctor degree from Paul M. Hebert Law Center at Louisiana State University in 1989. After graduation, she served a judicial clerkship with the Honorable Michael J. McNulty in the 16th Judicial District Court and, in 1990, joined one of the area’s top law firms with a federal litigation practice specializing in environmental law. From November 1991 until June 2005, she served as a permanent law clerk to the Honorable Rebecca F. Doherty of the United States District Court, Western District of Louisiana. After a short retirement, Sylvia returned to private practice and served as a Public Defender in the Juvenile Division of Lafayette Parish. From 2012 through 2022 she served as a permanent law clerk to the Honorable John J. Conery, on the Louisiana Third Circuit Court of Appeal. Sylvia is married to Warren C. Lowe, Ph.D., M.P.
